A Day in the Fens

Actually we spent two hours in the car and one at Welney; but it was worth it. Tens of thousands of waders, wild swans (Bewick's, whoopers and mutes) and very nice carrot cake. I'm taking 40 of my volunteers there on the 24th so this was a dummy run. We haven't been to this top European wildlife attraction for two years. In that time the old, friendly visitor centre has been replaced with a large, three story, slick and controversial new one. Verdict? We like it.
