Dracula's Castle

On Sunday June 1st we had a family reunion near Ledbury, in Herefordshire, . The catalyst for this rare occasion was a visit by my brother Alex's oldest daughter Lisa, who now lives in San Francisco with her US Coastguard husband, Juan. The Bath Stevenson's (just back from France) attended a similar gathering in Bristol the day before. Ross, Lisa's brother came too, along with Alex, of course.

Juan turned out to be a really nice guy and we would all like to see more of him. Lisa, who could have been a model, looked as beautiful as ever. Hopefully she will still be in the UK for a few weeks to be there when her sister Laura "pops a sprog" later this month. Alex's first grand-child is due any minute!

We chose Eastnor Castle as our rendez-vous because there is something there for all of us, even in the rain. Its a really beautiful location that has been used in a lot of films and TV series, but the castle is a Victorian "fake" stuffed with goodies inside. It's still occupied by its owners, and some ghosts, no doubt.
We elected to make a week-end out of it, staying Friday and Saturday nights at "The Old Kennels" on a cider farm. Nick joined us on Friday and Sarah, the GF, came over on Saturday.

We love Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire which lie along the border with Wales. There are many plants, and some birds that we don't get over here in the East, and almost no traffic.
