Christmas

Merry Christmas to you all. We had a few days of good white stuff just before Christmas but the snow that was on the ground partially melted and then refroze; solid. Then James, Jo, Jake and Thea (and Molly the dog) arrived from Bath and we settled into a proper family holiday. Mostly we stayed home, but Jake and I went up to the Great Fen (the lowest and flattest part of England) to feed our highland cattle and we all had a day out in Cambridge.

We all had lovely presents and tonnes of delicious food, but the best part was just being together. One of the highlights was a musical evening with Robin and Janine present as well. Jake learned the basics of saxophone playing and Thea did a lot of the cooking. Everyone did their bit, including Dan.

When the Bath Stevenson's left, we had a big clean up and then Hanna's sister Katy arrived. Although she and husband Joost live In Amsterdam, they had spent the holiday pretty well frozen into the Scottish Highlands. Despite missing connections, Joost managed to catch up with his flight home from Edinburgh as all the planes were late because of fog and ice. 'No such excuse on the trains so Katy got to us on time.

New Year is almost on us. Katy will be flying home and Nick is playing a gig in the Spiegel Tent in Gloucester. We might have an early night!
