This week we marked a very special birthday. As usual, Hanna is 35 again ('same as last year, and the one before that, and quite a few others before that.) What's so special is that her surgeon gave her the "all clear" on Monday; meaning she no longer has cancer and will not have to go through chemo or radio therapy; just five years of hormone treatment and regular check-ups. On top of that, she felt strong enough for a trip to Cambridge.
Hanna's old school friend from Chicago, Becky Riddel (now from New Hampshire), came with us and we had a splendid time shopping, gawping and taking photos. You can see the pictures HERE http://s255.photobucket.com/albums/hh129/jimstevenson2/Wet day in Cambridge/?albumview=slideshow . They are all a bit whacky and lo-fi, but it's fun to take pictures in the rain when you might sensibly leave your camera at home.

While Becky and Hanna were shopping for random stuff, I walked into a gallery and saw an excellent exhibition of Bob Dylan's artwork. You may have seen some of the pictures reproduced in a Sunday supplement where they looked like pale imitations of works by Vincent Van Gogh. In reality they are large, bright and competent. I like them. He made a lot of sketches while on the road which were eventually reproduced in a book. He had them blown up to A1 size and then he painted over them in fresh bright colours, making several versions of each picture which were then sold either as originals, or as limited edition prints. They are all pretty well sold out.
