Maine

Lawn ornaments on Peakes Island, Maine. 1989
It gets so cold in winter in Maine that even the politicians keep their hands in their own pockets.

In summer, lawn ornaments are a big deal. Look for moose cut from plywood, bears carved with chainsaws, plastic flamingos and Native Americans made of fibreglass.

Refrigerators always make great lawn ornaments. They take up a lot of space and make a bold statement. You can store stuff in them so the raccoons don't get it.

If you have a couple of refrigerators in your yard, people just don't bother you too much.
