Normal for Norfolk
The phrase "Normal for Norfolk" has become a bit of a catchphrase in preference to "Norfolk un' Good" which was more controversial. It comes from the clip boards on the end of hospital beds where the nursing staff would write "NFN" as this would explain a lot of the patient's symptoms that were not relevant to the reason for admission. This happened all over the country with the names of places like Trowbridge and the Forest of Dean being slurried in the same way. Still, I'd rather have "NFN" on my chart than "TF Bundy". (Totally F****d, but not dead yet.)
The picture above is of a shop front in Wells, while the Deli at Thornton proudly declares itself "Not Normal for Norfolk".
It's a cheap joke, but it does show even the locals recognise that Norfolk is a special place; meaning different to the rest of the country. It's my favourite county after Yorkshire actually.
The other picture is of a typical Bank Holiday anywhere in England, but it just happens to be at Blakeney in Norfolk.
You can see a slideshow of the last few days of our holiday on Photobucket. The birds were taken at the Pensthorpe bird park where many of the birds are either tame or captive.
