We went to Cambridge's most exclusive gallery at Kettles Yard to see Alex Lambton’s work which he made on a summer school for young carers. It was really good and obviously inspired Alex a lot. He gave us a tour of the whole place, which showed just how much he remembered. (ie Everything!) Then on to see the permanent exhibition which is in the house next door. You have to pull the ring pull, which is quite daunting, Nigel wanted to run away and leave Alex holding the chain.
Even more daunting, was the gang of formidable, elderly ladies who frisked us and told us what to do. My God though, it’s about the best gallery I’ve ever been in. The couple who lived there seem to have bought almost everything by Ben Nicholson, Barbara Hepworth and a few other artists they discovered themselves. Then they arranged every feature of the house to reflect their art collection. It’s all kept religiously in place by the gang of ancient devotees. After the initial security checks and thorough registration procedure, the ladies turned into sweet-hearts. They could not have been more helpful or informative.
Nigel Lambton took great pictures of the gallery. 080920_Alex Art I just took selective pieces.

No ifs or buts; if you go there you will be blown away by at least one artist, but I won’t spoil it by telling all.
None of us can believe that we have never been there before. Wow!
